A 26 year old man from the Sparkhill area of Birmingham has been arrested on suspicion of attending a terrorist training camp in Pakistan.
The news was announced by West Midlands Police this evening.
The man was detained at Manchester Airport on Friday evening after he arrived on a flight from Lahore.
He is believed to have been in Pakistan since leaving the UK in 2010 and suspected of attending the training camp in 2011
He was taken to a West Mids police station and questioned by officers from the CTU before being released on conditional bail this evening
WMCTU’s Supt Shaun Edwards said:”This was an intelligence led arrest. He was not detained because of any immediate risk to the public.”
