A British jihadist is fighting a war of a very different kind in Syria – a battle to keep his beard looking pristine.
Abu Fulan al-Muhajir has been begging fellow militants for advice on dealing with split ends in his beard.
On Twitter he wrote: ‘My beard’s got split ends. What to do?’

Female jihad sympathisers were quick to offer advice.
One of his 5,654 followers, Umm Ammar wrote: ‘Not a beard expert but when we get split ends in our hair we trim half an inch or so.
‘They grow back quicker and stronger.’
Another advised to ‘trim and oil it’, while user Khadija told Mr al-Muhajir to ‘stop straightening it’.
Mr al-Muhajir’s beauty bothers didn’t end there.
Israfil Yilmaz replies on Twitter to a question from Mr al-Muhajir asking where he can get hair conditioner
He appears to have contacted another rebel fighter, Israfil Yilmaz, to ask where he could buy hair conditoner.
Mr Yilmaz tweeted: ‘That awkward moment when somebody asks me if there is hair conditioner available in Syria. Why is that even important in a warzone?’
Mr al-Muhajir then replies: ‘Sorry but I wanna know. Some of us had gorgeous hair and needs (sic) to take care of it.’
Twitter user Independist-R2D2 wrote: ‘What do you have against hair conditioners? Makes a Sunnah beard feel luxurious.’
