Handsworth pair Yusef Sarwar and Nahin Ahmed will stand trial at Woolwich Crown Court accused of preparing terrorist acts connected to Syria
Three West Midland terrorism suspects were due to appear in court today in two separate trials.
The pair were arrested by the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit when their flight from Istanbul, Turkey, landed at Heathrow Airport in January.
Both men are alleged to have spent eight months in Syria.
Meanwhile, 34-year-old Dudley man, Usman Choudhary, of Terry Road, will enter the dock at Kingston Crown Court accused of sending alleged terrorist publication, Join The Caravan, to a prisoner in Kent.
The prosecution will allege Mr Choudhary sent the controversial book by the author dubbed ‘the father of global Jihad’, Abdullah Yusuf Azzam, to inmate Christopher Weston at Swaleside Prison.
Both trials are expected to last three weeks.
