Teenage, Mass Murder, Plot, Kill, Michael Piggin, Teen, Old Bailey,
NO VERDICT: A second jury failed to reach a verdict on the case of young Michael Piggin [CENTRAL]

Michael Piggin, 18, claimed it had just been a way of venting his anger rather than a serious plan.

The court heard how the A-level student’s notebooks outlined detailed plans of deadly attacks on two schools, a mosque, council offices and Loughborough University, Leics, in his diaries.

He wrote about arming himself with guns, bombs, and knives for a deadly assault inspired by the Monster of Oslo, Anders Breivik.

Two successive juries could not decide whether he was guilty and Piggin, from Loughborough, was freed because people are never tried for a third time.

But he will be sentenced on June 13 after admitting possessing a knife and parts for an improvised explosive device. .

Breivik killed 69, mainly teenagers, in a mass shooting at a camp on the Norwegian island of Utøya in July 2011.
